Current Shropshire County, West Midlands District and UK Age Group rankings – from the ASA database have been compiled for all Titan swimmers. This exercise will be repeated every six months. In total Titan swimmers have two No 1 UK rankings, one No 2 ranking and a further ten top 10 UK rankings. This is in addition to the multitude of West Midland and Shropshire County top ten rankings.. 28-OCT-2008  |  PBs & Club Records Continue to Fall at Wolverhampton
Last weekend a Titan army of Alfie Pardoe, Natalie Greene. Annie Jones, Elliot Hughes, Daniel Howell, Ottilie Fairhurst, Hannah Greene, Lauren Bond and Annie Mellings were back in Short Course action, smashing a total of 37 personal best times and capturing 18 Titan club records. Up against some of the best swimmers in the Midlands the Titans returned with a tally of 3 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals.. You can view the results here >>

25-Sep-2008  |  Titans Add Friday Morning Training Sessions

Following on from the success of our Wednesday morning training sessions the Club has added a regular Friday morning session 7am-8.15am to the schedule. The first of these sessions will be on Friday 26th September. All swimmers are welcome.

This now brings our total weekly pool and dryland training hours to 11. This is believed to be the most offered by any club within Shropshire and signals our intent to keep moving forwards towards performance status.

05-Sep-2008  |  Titans Confirm Long Course Training at Liverpool
The Club has today been awarded its Long Course training time at Liverpool’s new 50m Pool – scheduled for Sundays 9am-11am. The first session will be on Sunday 14th September.

We have initially been allocated one lane and this training will therefore need to be limited to a maximum of 10 swimmers of a relatively similar ability. Swimmers will therefore be allocated scheduled dates to attend – this will be emailed to all concerned within the next few days and will appear on the Club website. It is intended that a rota of parents will be put in place to facilitate transport – details to follow.

05-Sep-2008  |  Shropshire County Championships 2009 – Qualifying Times
The qualifying times for next years Shropshire County Championships have now been published. One change from last year is that 11 year old boys can now swim the 800m & 1500m freestyles. Girls & Boys aged 9-11 will no longer be able to swim the 100m IM but will be able to compete in the 400m IM. Qualifying times XLS >>

24-Jul-2008  |  Jon Pardoe attains UKCC Level 3 Coaching Certificate
Titans head coach, Jon Pardoe has become the first Club Coach in Shropshire and one of the first in the West Midlands to attain the UKCC Level 3 Coaching Certificate.

Commenting on it’s attainment Jon Pardoe said “The long term success of the Titans will be based upon a number of factors – but I hope that my attainment of Level 3 will go some way to enabling the club to lay the right foundations – it certainly sets us apart from the other more recreational type clubs in Shropshire – I’d like to thank all those swimmers and parents who helped me achieve this.” [end]

20-Jul-2008  |  TeamBath Open Meet 19th & 20th July
Alfie Pardoe came away from the TeamBath Open Meet last weekend having won the gold medal in the 11/u 400m freestyle. However his biggest achievement was knocking a full 2 seconds off his 100m backstroke PB to capture the silver medal in a time of 1:21.65 which moves him up into 14th place in the 10/u UK rankings. Overall –in his 5 events he won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals - despite having to swim in the 11/u age category. [end]

British Olympic swimmer Darren Mew took his first coaching sessions last Wednesday and Thursday – and was singularly impressed by what he saw. He gave each swimmer a breaststroke improvement to work on and hopes to see the results when he visits again after the summer. [cont - photos]

From the start of the new swimming season the Club has announced the introduction of regular Wednesday morning training sessions at Ellesmere College Pool from 7.00am-8.15am. 30-Jun-2008 Liverpool Open Meet 28th & 29th June
Last weekend a small army of Titans ascended in Convoy to the new 50m Pool at Wavertree in Liverpool. By the end of the weekend 21 Personal Bests had been smashed, 7 medals had been won and a number of all time club records had been broken. [cont]

16-Jun-2008 Midland Age Group Championships – 14th & 15th June
The final weekend of the 2008 Midland Age Group Championships kicked off at 8am on Saturday 14th June at Coventry’s Olympic Size Pool. By the end of a long and exhausting 5 sessions – Titan swimmers had secured numerous Personal Bests, All Time Club Records and had medalled. Most importantly they had put the Titans well and truly on the swimming map. [cont]

Young swimmers from all over North Shropshire have welcomed the establishment of the Titans - a new and highly ambitious swimming club. 20-MAY-2008 Titans Draw Big Guns in Speedo League
At last Sundays official draw for the North West Speedo League – the Titans drew some of the biggest clubs in the North West Minor Division in their group – including last years top three – 2007 winners Bolton, second place Northwich and third place Lancaster. Ellesmere Port and Garston have also been drawn in our group.

Commenting upon the draw Jon Pardoe said “Obviously this is going to be a very stiff test for a brand new club with young swimmers. But if you want to eventually become the best you have to be prepared to take on all comers and all challenges – and I’m confident that our swimmers will rise to the occasion”.

The first round of this years competition will take place on Saturday 11th October. [end]
