British Olympian Joins Titans Coaching Setup

darren mew 2Darren Mew, one of the fastest 100m breaststroke swimmers in history and a finalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, has teamed up with the Titans as our specialist breaststroke consultant coach.

Darren will make regular visits to the Titans to assist in poolside coaching and will be on hand, throughout the year, to advise upon specialist training strategies.

As a club we already have a number of the Counties best breaststroke swimmers, including Annie Mellings, who won the 11/u Girls 200m breaststroke gold medal and Alfie Pardoe who won the 10/u Boys 200m breaststroke gold medal at this years County Swimming Championships.

Commenting upon his new role Darren said “The Titans are all about bringing together a group of highly talented and like minded young swimmers and enabling them to bounce their enthusiasm off each other – ultimately keeping the sport goal orientated and enjoyable within an excellent set up. I’m delighted to be involved it is going to be great being part of the club.”

Titans head coach Jon Pardoe said “Darren is an excellent addition to the coaching set up here at Ellesmere. For young swimmers to have the benefit of one of the greatest breaststroke swimmers in history is a massive boost.”

Darren’s first visit to the club will hopefully take place in the coming weeks.
